SCADA PROGRAMMING
The term SCADA (supervisory control and data acquisition) describes a class of industrial automatic control and telemetry systems. The feature of SCADA systems is that they consist of local controllers, controlling individual components and units of an installation, connected to a central Master Station. The central workstation can then communicate the data it collects from the installation to a multitude of workstations on a local LAN, or transmit the installation data to remote locations via a telecommunications system, eg via a wired telephone network or via a wireless network.
It is also possible for each local controller to be remotely located and to transmit data to the master station via a simple cable or wireless transceiver, always with a set of local controllers connected in star topology to a master station.
